SD-7/9 原型是美國 EMD 公司 1952 生產, LifeLike 生產 SD-7/9 模型.
塑膠外殼, 金屬底盤, 有飛輪, 細部做的不錯.(其外型及動輪與台鐵 R-20 近似) 是該公司第一款 6-wheel truck.2002年出品SD-9是其第三代產品,已具DCC ready,2000 Magnetic Knuckle Couplers,細部更精製.
The SD7 was regarded as the 'Cadillac of engines' by crews. Power was supplied by EMD's then standard, reliable V-16 567B 1,500 HP engine. Designed for drag and coal service.

The PROTO 2000 SD7 locomotive features a five pole, skew-wound dynamically-balanced armature motor with superrite anisotropic magnets, fitted with dual machined flywheels combined with all wheel drive and electrical pick up to provide smooth running and ample pulling power. The body features functional drop steps, see-through steps and footboards, and see-through fan grills with visible fan blades. Also included are steam generator parts, scale sun shades, rerail frogs, all weather cab windows, a NEW casting for the fuel tank air breather pipe, and a NEW see-through winterization hatch casting. The SD7 is complete with NMRA Digital Command Control compatible plug and screw mounted PROTO 2000 magnetic couplers.
